“Global Thinking, Local Action, Universal Impact (GLU)” Youth Service-learning Program

Altagracia Faith and Justice Works offers a youth service-learning program called “Global Thinking, Local Action, Universal Impact (GLU),” which introduces high school students to issues of social justice by way of community service activities, advocacy workshops, guest presentations, interactive activities and a final project to illustrate how they can make service, social justice, and civic engagement an enduring part of their lives beyond the program. Each week-long session focuses on a particular theme of service and social justice like hunger and food justice, environmental justice, etc. This summer, in partnership with several other community organizations, we are offering an expanded 6-week summer program, which will build off current themes and introduce additional themes that connect with Altagracia’s other work and partnerships in the community, like housing, immigration, and restorative justice.
